We will ask you for basic identifying information to participate in the challenge. whitmanwell.100happydays.com may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure your comfort with any policy changes.
What we collect:
- name and sex
- contact information including email address
- statements about level of happiness
- what platform is desired for participation
What we do with the information we gather:
We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you. We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:
- Internal record keeping
- We may use the information to improve our products and services
- We may contact you by email
What we will not do with the information we gather:
- We will not send promotional email about new products, special offers or other information using the email address which you have provided
- We will not use your information to contact you for market research purposes
- We will not provide your information to our third parties for marketing or promotional purposes
- We will not link your information to other websites
- We will never sell your information
Security: We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline. The Whitman Well is a collaborative endeavor between 100happydays and Whitman College. Precautions, per 100happydays, are in place to protect your information but ultimately Whitman does not have primary control over the 100happydays web site, their service, or any of the photos submitted.
In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information are in place, however, users of this site take some risk from any unforeseen breach of the 100happydays server. Your personal information is kept private and stored securely until a time it is no longer required or has no use, as detailed in the Data Protection Act 1998.
Wherever 100happydays collects sensitive information (such as credit card data for donations or a hard copy of the 100 photos), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.
Controlling your personal information: To participate, you must choose to use a public platform to submit your photos (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, or email). Using email insures that no one else can see your photos. Whitman/100happydays has no control over or ownership of the photos if you choose a public platform. Communication, engagement and actions taken through external social media platforms that this website and its owners participate on are subject to the terms and conditions as well as the privacy policies held with each social media platform, respectively. Whitman College nor the owners of 100happydays will ever ask for personal or sensitive information through social media platforms.
Photos sent privately to the site will be held for 30 days past the completion of the challenge and then they will be discarded from the 100happydays archive. Whitman College will be accessing any participant’s photos (only via the chosen social media platform) for the purpose of a campus art installation, conference presentations, and/or journal articles.
You may opt out of any future contacts from us or participation in the challenge at any time. If you have any questions about your personal information or want to change your personal information, please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
How we use email addresses: Participants will occasionally be sent an email during their participation, either from 100happydays.com or a Whitman.edu address. All participants will be sent a survey requesting feedback about participation at the end of the each semester. The data collected in these surveys may be used for conference presentations and/or journal articles.
Photo submission: Please be mindful of the type of photos you are posting. Whitman adheres to values that demonstrate respect for all individuals regardless of one’s race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. Photos that are seen as having inappropriate content will not be used in any public displays (per the Whitman review committee).
